Special event applications must receive City Commission approval to proceed during High Impact Periods, as outlined in the City Commission-approved Special Event Guidelines. These periods include March and the first two weeks of April, coinciding with college and high school spring breaks.

The Tourism and Culture Special Events Division issues permits for events on public property or within private commercial spaces. We encourage all permit applicants to review the city’s Special Event Guidelines before applying.

Community Review

Community Review

Special Event Permit applications undergo review and recommendations from the relevant neighborhood or business association(s) during the monthly Special Events Community Review. Applicants seeking a permit for an event on public property must present their plans to the appropriate neighborhood association.
