The City of Miami Beach is proud to support cultural programing. Since 1997, the City of Miami Beach has awarded approximately $19 million to over 100 nonprofit arts groups through an annual, competitive cultural grants program. In September 2023, the City Commission supported increasing the budget of Cultural Arts Council funding from $850,000 to $1.05 million for the FY 23/24 cycle and the future.

    The City of Miami Beach is committed to advancing the City’s full range of cultural programing. Through the diversity and support of our Cultural Anchors, the City of Miami Beach becomes a world renowned artistic destination for visitors and residents alike.

    The City of Miami Beach is committed to advancing the City’s full range of dance artistry. The City of Miami Beach funds all forms of dance including aerial dance, ballet, flamenco, jazz, hip hop, modern, tap, and others.

    In FY 2024-25, the City of Miami Beach is funding the below eligible nonprofit Cultural Presenters for Dance:

    • Armour Dance Theatre

    • Ballet Flamenco La Rosa

    • Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami, Inc.

    • Miami Hispanic Ballet Corp.

    • Peter London Global Dance Company

    • The Dance Now! Ensemble, Inc.

    FILM

    The City of Miami Beach supports film and film festivals that include (but are not limited to) documentaries, films made in Miami, short films, features, or web series, and seeks to promote films with artful film language, effective storytelling, originality and feasibility, contemporary cultural relevance, and potential to reach and connect with diverse Miami Beach audiences.

    In FY 2024-25, the City of Miami Beach is funding the below eligible nonprofit Cultural Presenters for Film:

    • Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education, Inc.

    • Italian Film Festival

    • Miami Dade College's Miami Film Festival

    • Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Inc.

    • Miami Short Film Festival

    MUSIC

    The City of Miami Beach supports a wide range of music, from classical to contemporary. The City also supports both performing ensembles and music-presenting institutions including chamber music ensembles, choruses, early music programs, jazz ensembles, music festivals, and symphony orchestras.

    In FY 2024-25, the City of Miami Beach is funding the below eligible nonprofit Cultural Presenters for Music:

    • Global Arts Project

    • Miami Chamber Music Society

    • Miami Children's Chorus

    OPERA

    The City of Miami Beach is committed to supporting all types of performance art including Opera and Chorus which was added to our list of funded disciplines in 2018. The City of Miami Beach is committed to encouraging all types of performance art.

    In FY 2024-25, the City of Miami Beach is funding the below eligible nonprofit Cultural Presenters for Opera and Chorus:

    • Florida Opera Prima

    THEATER

    The City of Miami Beach supports the nonprofit theater field for the production or presentation of traditional or classical repertoire, new plays, development laboratories, showcases, artist residencies, work for young audiences, experimental work and community-based work. Theater projects funded by the City of Miami Beach provide support for organizations and artists in the creation and refinement of work, the public presentation of plays from all cultures and periods, and opportunities for professional development.

    In FY 2024-25, the City of Miami Beach is funding the below eligible nonprofit Cultural Presenters for Theater:

    • Area Performance Gallery/ Area Stage

    • Fantasy Theater Factory

    VISUAL ARTS

    The City of Miami Beach is committed to supporting visual arts activity that demonstrates exceptional aesthetic investigation and meaningful community engagement. Specifically, the City of Miami Beach is interested in supporting contemporary artists and the projects they undertake, such as exhibitions, residencies, publications, commissions, public art works, services to the field, and public programs. The City of Miami Beach is committed to encouraging individual artistic development, experimentation, and dialogue between artists and the public.

    In FY 2024-25, the City of Miami Beach is funding the below eligible nonprofit Cultural Presenters for Visual Arts and Multi-Disciplinary programs:

    • Blue Lab Preservation Society (The Reefline)

    MULTI-DISCIPLINARY

    The City of Miami Beach is committed to supporting artistic works and events that present multiple disciplines, combine and/or integrate art forms, explore boundaries between art disciplines, fuse or transcend disciplines, and look to new forms of expression.
