WORK PLANUnder the direction of the City Engineer, the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for providing Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning and Environmental Management services citywide.• The Engineering Division is responsible for providing civil engineering and land surveying services citywide. The Division also provides regulatory oversight for compliance with all Federal, State, and local criteria on design activities conducted within public property. The Division is also responsible for developing and updating design guidelines for civil construction as well as maintaining engineering and utility records and providing inspection services for City bridges, seawalls, stormwater, sanitary sewer, water, street and street lighting systems. The Division also provides technical regulatory support to other departments such as Planning, Parks and Recreation, and Capital Improvements and is also responsible for complying with the regulatory review process for Building Permit issuance for public and private developments.Within the Engineering Division, the Right-of-Way (ROW) Management group manages the utilization of the City's ROW by reviewing residential and commercial construction plans, issuing ROW permits , and managing the daily utilization of the public right of way. • The Transportation Division is responsible for strengthening the linkages between the City’s Land Use Transportation paradigms involving mobility, livability, and accessibility and sustainability issues and is responsible for the implementation of the Municipal Mobility Plan projects.
• The Environmental Resources Division is responsible for protecting and preserving the City's natural resources through the development and implementation of a strategic environmental management plan. This is achieved through the preservation, protection, restoration, and enhancement of the natural environment through management of regulatory compliance programs, environmental investigations, education programs, implementation of natural resources and sustainable development programs.
