PUBLIC WORKS - PROPERTY MANAGEMENTThe Property Management Division is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of over 4 million square feet of municipal buildings, all bridges, monuments, water fountains, swimming pools, boardwalks, Beachwalk, playground equipment, parking garages and street furniture. The Division provides oversight for project development of construction and renovation projects of all City facilities and develops programming, bid specifications, architectural plans and provides construction management for renovation of City facilities. The Property Management Division is responsible for space planning for relocation and renovation of City departments and provides roof surveys, asbestos surveys, and the development of specifications, cost estimates, and contracts necessary for the repair/replacement of all operational equipment, roofs, and building systems. The Division is also responsible for graffiti control throughout the City.
To accomplish this, the Division employs licensed tradesmen that are responsible for electrical systems, heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. Skilled painters continuously upgrade the appearance of the buildings and are the driving force in eradicating graffiti.
General maintenance duties are performed by skilled Carpenters. These tradesman, assisted by masons and municipal service workers are assigned throughout the City performing work ranging from the repair of lifeguard stands to the installation of office partitions and replacement of office doors.
This division also provides specifications and contract management for all service contracts dealing with facility maintenance and building services.
