Citizens Access Portal 

Inspections may be requested/canceled via the Citizen Access Portal.  Registration is required in order to use the Citizen Access Portal’s online inspection request.  Click on the following link to begin the registration process:  CAP Registration

 

**Important:  If you are neither the Contractor or Owner, prior to accessing permit information in CAP, you must be added to each permit for which you seek access to.  In order to be added to a permit, you must submit a notarized letter, from the Contractor or the Owner, granting permission to be added as a Contact.**  CAP only contains data from 2009 to the present.

Interactive Voice Response (IVR)

Please note: Inspections requested prior to 4:00 p.m. are performed the next business day. All Cancellation Requests shall be scheduled via the IVR. Inspectors are not authorized to perform cancellations in the system on behalf of the contractors. 


Inspections are performed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The approved job copy of the plans, Notice of Commencement, approved permit and permit card must be at the construction site and the address properly posted and visible from the street. The job to be inspected must be accessible. An OSHA approved ladder must be available if needed.



What is the Interactive Voice Response System (IVR)?

The City of Miami Beach Building Department proudly uses the IVR (Interactive Voice Response) System. The IVR system will accept inspection requests or cancellations and will provide information on inspection results. The system is designed to perform these functions without having to speak to a customer service representative. Anyone who has access to a touch-tone service telephone can use the IVR System. If a customer calls from a rotary-dial phone, the call will automatically transfer to a customer service representative.

The IVR System is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call anytime the IVR System does not take time out. The IVR System is designed to respond immediately to incoming calls.  The IVR System can guide customers through every step of the inspection process. 

How to Use the (IVR) 

  1. To request an inspection, dial 305.673.7370.  When prompted press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish.   
  2. When prompted, enter the pin number assigned to the permit and then press 1 to continue.   
  3. The next prompt has 5 choices:   
    • Press 1 for Permit Status   
    • Press 2 for Inspection Status   
    • Press 3 to Schedule an Inspection   
    • Press 4 to Cancel an Inspection   
    • Press 5 to Change the date of a requested inspection   

Scheduling an Inspection

  1. If you are scheduling an inspection, press 2.  Then, you will be given the type of inspection available to be requested along with a number to enter in order to confirm the request.    
  2. When prompted, enter the number given for the inspection type.   
  3. When prompted, enter the number for the desired date of the inspection.  If after 12:00 p.m., you will need to select the day after tomorrow.   
  4. Next, you will be prompted to enter 1 for Morning or 2 for Afternoon.   
  5. Make your selection and press 1 to continue.   
  6. Next, enter you call back number and press 1 to confirm.     
  7. Next, you will hear a confirmation: “Your inspection has been processed successfully and will be reviewed.” 

     

Cancelling an Inspection

  1. If you are canceling a requested inspection, press option 4.   
  2. Then, you will be given the type of inspection available to be requested along with a number to enter in order to confirm the request.   
  3. When prompted, enter the number given for the inspection type.   
  4. When prompted, press 1 to continue.   
  5. Next, press 1 to confirm. 

     

Change the Date of a Requested Inspection

  1. If you are scheduling an inspection, press 5.  Then, you will be given the type of inspection available to be requested along with a number to enter in order to confirm the request.   
  2. When prompted, enter the number given for the inspection type.   
  3. When prompted, enter the number for the desired date of the inspection.  If after 12:00 p.m., you will need to select the day after tomorrow.   
  4. Next, you will be prompted to enter 1 for Morning or 2 for Afternoon.   
  5. Make your selection and press 1 to continue.   
  6. Next, you will hear a confirmation: “Your inspection has been processed successfully and will be reviewed.”
