HOMEBUYER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The City funds various programs to assist homebuyers, and provides assistance to existing homeowners. Applicants for these programs must meet specific income eligibility requirements. Depending on the form and level of assistance provided, the city may attach a “covenant” on the property’s deed for a limited amount of time.
The Homebuyer Assistance Program provides assistance to income-eligible homebuyers in the form of silent mortgages, down payment and closing costs assistance. First-time homebuyer counseling is also available, and provides assistance in helping potential homebuyers prepare for homeownership opportunities.
The program also provides assistance for the rehabilitation of the housing units being acquired, or for currently-owned units.
The City contracts with the Miami Beach Community Development Corporation (MBCDC) to provide these services. Contact MBCDC at 305-538-0090 to request a copy of the program brochure or to obtain additional information.
