OCCUPATIONAL ACCIDENTAL DEATH BENEFIT
Upon their first day of employment, all employees are covered by an additional amount of life insurance in the event of accidental death while in performance of duties as a City employee. The amount of coverage is half the amount of the basic group term life insurance to a maximum of $20,000 benefit. The cost of this benefit is paid by the City.
Police Officers have $50,000 accidental death coverage with the FOP Health Trust at no cost to the employees.
Police Officers and Fire Fighters also have additional life insurance coverage in accordance with certain State and Federal statutes.
