The Backgrounds Section is responsible for conducting background investigations on all Department job applicants, both sworn and non-sworn. They are also called upon occasionally to conduct background investigations on non-department applicants where the nature of the position may require an extensive background investigation. The process of hiring a new employee of a law enforcement agency is a demanding process. The residents of Miami Beach insist that our employees, particularly sworn officers, meet high standards of character and professional conduct. Investigators assigned to this section are specially trained to conduct these type of extensive inquiries and to provide the Department with the information necessary to  make informed decisions regarding the hiring of new employees.
