HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHS Printer Friendly Version

In an effort to preserve the City’s historical archives, in 2004 the City Clerk’s Office began cataloging each photograph by year, theme and converting to electronic format, so that visitors and residents, as well as employees can enjoy the beauty and magic of Miami Beach in past years.  Today, the City’s archives contain more than 1,400 historical photographs, post-cards, documents and press clippings.


If you are interested in donate photographs of Miami Beach in the early years, post cards or historical memorabilia to help build the City’s archives, please email digital images, with date and description of each document, or coordinate a visit to the City Clerk’s Office, 1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida, 33139. HISTORICAL VIDEO
1920s video donated by June Newbauer, daughter of Henri Levy, founder and developer of Normandy Isle and what is today Surfside.  Mr. Levy named the Streets of Normandy Isle after his native France.  The Normandy Isle Fountain has been adopted as a neighborhood icon and the surrounding plaza is the setting for a farmers market and various cultural events.  Click here to view video.
