Major Brian Sliman is a 23 year veteran of the Miami Beach Police Department. During his tenure, he has served in a variety of capacities to include: Major of the Technical Services Division, Major of the Support Services Division, Major of the Patrol Division, Captain of the Criminal Investigations Unit, Captain of the Patrol Division’s North District, Lieutenant of the Criminal Investigations Juvenile Crimes Section, Lieutenant of Patrol, Sergeant of Patrol, Motorcycle Officer and Police Officer.
In his current assignment as the Major of the Operations Division, Major Sliman is responsible for all aspects of the Uniform Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigations Division. The Patrol Division is compromised of Road Patrol, Foot Patrol, Bicycle Units, All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), K-9, Marine Patrol, Crime Suppression, SWAT, Motors, Accident Investigations, Crises Intervention, School Liaisons, Neighborhood Resource Officers and Special Events. The Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of the Violent Crimes Unit, Property Crimes Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, Special Victims Unit, Economic Crimes Unit, Robbery Squad, Victim Advocates, Crime Analysts, Crime Scene Unit, as well as the Detectives detached to various federal, state and local tasks forces.
Major Sliman has served at the Police Department’s Awards Board Chairman and Hostage Negotiation Commander.
Since 2009, he has served as the chairman of the Police Department’s annual Holiday Toy Giveaway. Established in 1982, this very worthwhile cause has provided a holiday gift to nearly 500 children each year. The event would not take place without the involvement of the residential and business communities whose contributions fund the Toy Giveaway.
Major Sliman holds a Bachelors degree from Barry University. He is a graduate of the 225th Session of the FBI’s National Academy, and a graduate of Northwestern University’s Executive Management Program.
