The Property and Evidence Unit is responsible for all of the Department's physical facilities, vehicles, equipment and supplies, as well as the storage of all impounded property and evidence.
Among the unit's duties are the purchasing and distribution of equipment such as uniforms, office supplies and other consumable items through it's Quartermaster operations.
Fleet management is a section within the Property and Evidence Unit and is responsible for the coordination of the purchase, assignment and maintenance of all police vehicles.
One of the most sensitive functions of this unit is safeguarding evidence such as narcotics, cash and weapons. In performing this function, the Property and Evidence Unit goes to great lengths to guarantee the highest possible standards of accountability and security.
The Department owns millions of dollars in equipment and facilities and it is the Property and Evidence Unit which has the responsibility for tracking and maintaining the majority of it through various internal organizational components.
Performing or coordinating the maintenance of the police facility is an ongoing major function of the unit. Incorporated in this function is the operation and management of building security and and the Department's computerized access system.
