GENERAL INFORMATIONThe City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department provides a myriad of programs and services seven days per week. Our professional staff is committed to continuously improve the City's Parks and Recreation services. The Department is composed of the Administration Division and three operating Divisions: Recreation, Parks Maintenance and Golf.
DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTSIn October of 2003 & 2008, the Parks &
Recreation Department earned its accreditation from the Commission for
Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). We have been considered
to be one of less than 100 Parks and Recreation Departments across America to
have earned this prestigious certification. Our department was recognized by
complying with over 150 standards deemed essential to the quality of services
delivered, the professionalism of its operations and for the delivery of best
practices. We are proud to have been among the best recognized for our
excellent services and professionalism and strive to continue providing that
quality of service every day.
COMMUNICATING WITH OUR RESIDENTSA unique component of the Parks & Recreation Department’s Administration Division is our in house media office. This office operates pro-actively to identify and utilize all possible communication tools and outlets to achieve our Mission. Two main communication components are the Recreation Review and the Department’s website.
The Recreation Review Magazine, which highlights an array of programs and activities offered by our Department, has been improved over the years achieving a more user friendly format and a higher customer service standard. The magazine is published once a year in May and is demographically mailed to families with children in Miami Beach to keep our customers up to date. The Department’s website continues to offer 24/7 online information on our programs, classes and family oriented events. 2012: The City of Miami Beach and Mr. Magrisso were awarded the “Outstanding
Community Service Award” by the UM-NSU CARD for helping provide programs for
