• Calling Old Cell Phones
The City of Miami Beach is collecting disconnected cell phones through June 18 to distribute to victims of domestic violence, troops abroad, and to the elderly in need.

The phones will be programmed by the Miami Beach Police Department's Criminal Investigation's Division, Domestic Violence Unit to dial 911 for emergency assistance. The phones for the military will be sent directly to the Cell Phones for Soldiers program. The City's Police Department will issue phones directly to victims of abuse and the elderly and contribute phones to the Advocate for Victims and The Lodge Shelters for them to distribute.

    Helpful Tips:

    • Make sure that service has been discontinued to the phone by the wireless company
    • Phones need to be matched with chargers to be useful and be in good working condition
