Earn your Community Service Hours, bond with your family and community, and have some fun.
September 24, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., hundreds of
volunteers of all ages will gather for a day of public service at sites
throughout Miami Beach. Following the completion of their projects, volunteers
will come together for a celebration at North
Shore Open Space Park, between Collins Avenue and the beach at
Family Service Day service learning projects include:
-Art Therapy for Children
-Beach Dune Restoration
-Cross-Cultural Engagement Activities
-Non-Native Plant Removal
-Sustainability Projects at local schools
-LED Projects at local schools
Volunteers will receive lunch from burger hot spot Shake Shack, a free T-shirt and a free reusable water bottle courtesy of Coca-Cola. There will be giveaways with prizes for

raise awareness about the issue of hunger, promote solutions to the underlying
causes and show support to our neighbors in need, volunteers are asked to bring

we are not able to accept walk-up volunteers due to the size of the event, so
please be sure to register online soon, before the event fills up!
Family Service Day’s Resource Fair will provide information about the
many services available in Miami Beach; including job training, counseling,
youth development programs, truancy prevention initiatives, educational
support, health care services, youth employment, and
food banks, among others. Many of these services are available free of charge! Presenters
at the Resource Fair include members of the Miami Beach Service Partnership,
a collaborative engaging more than a dozen community service agencies. By
raising the visibility of the partner agencies, the event will improve access
to resources that increase the quality of life for all those who live, work,
and play in Miami Beach.
The Miami-Dade Public Library System’s Bookmobile will be on site to encourage reading. Green Apple Day of Service and Teen Job Corps are providing crucial
assistance in the planning and implementation of the event. The City of Miami
Beach’s Parks & Recreation
Department is sharing vital resources to assist in the event’s execution.
